Kenyan Mission Documentary

Kenyan Slum BoyTravel with Australians Matt, Marty, and Paul across Kenya for a two week African safari. Inspired to go where the Spirit of God leads them, these adventurers find themselves in the arid Archers Post ministering to nomadic tribal people. They cross the Rift Valley to the lush highlands of West Kenya, down to the shores of Lake Victoria, and then onto a highland experience straight out of the book of Acts.

You will experience what it's like to arrive in a foreign mission field without any pre-arranged itinerary but to listen to the Spirit of God and to go wherever He leads. These are just ordinary guys willing to step out of the boat with an extraordinary God. The highlight of the adventure is in chapter 3 where there is an explosion of Holy Spirit power in the town of Kisii where many are healed and delivered in a remarkable demonstration of the power and love of God.

If you have any interest in travelling and bringing heaven to earth at the same time, you will enjoy watching this adventure in God...

Chapter One - Nairobi To Archers Post

Nairobi slumsThe guys land in Nairobi directly from Australia - without knowing the language, and very little idea of what they are in for. They just know that Nairobi is one of the most dangerous cities in the world - sounds like a good place to 'step out of the boat'...

First stop is to one of the largest slums in the world and to meet some locals. With a team of intercessors at home in Australia, they go in expecting God arranged encounters. Then it's north to the remote Archers Post where an elder tribesman is delivered from demon possession, a boy healed of an eye infection and many hearts are opened up to the good news of the Kingdom of God.

Chapter Two - East To West

Kenyan HutFrom Archers Post the guys make their way down through the ancient Rift Valley and across to West Kenya. The contrast is amazing, the rain is falling, the temperature drops and it's like another world completely.

The experience of new geographical regions is interesting but the guys have a burning desire to see heaven come to earth and are on the lookout for any opportunity to deliver.

You will see what it's like to have this desire for the 'more' unrealized and so cause these adventurers to press in harder still to see an outpouring of Grace and Power!

Chapter Three - Kisii

Downpour

We were a little frustrated to say the least, in this run-down place of no particular interest, in the west of Kenya. Paul, Marty, and I (Matt) were following the leading of the Spirit in an African safari to see the power of God at work. Halfway through our two-week adventure, although seeing the deliverance of a tormented Maasai Warrior and a boy healed, we were expecting something on a grander scale. Our prophetic team at home were praying hard and feeding us a constant stream of words via SMS and we knew there had to be more that we had experienced so far.  On the shore of Lake Victoria we asked the Holy Spirit “where to now?” On the map laid out before us a little insignificant place called Kisii stood out. If we survive the bus ride, only those who have ventured to Africa would understand, the heavens may just open up at Kisii.

Kenya miraclesWe arrived just as a thunderstorm broke over the little town. Fully loaded with backpacks we hurried down the main street looking for shelter. A demoniac tracking beside us, growling unintelligible demands heightened the sense that we had entered a dark place. We found an eating-place to shelter in, broke our short fast with communion, and prayed for breakthrough.

Our faithful intercessors at home had sent us a word about a man named Ken and something wrong with his leg. That evening we found ourselves in hot pursuit of a man on crutches racing away down a back alley. His name was Ken and we prayed for his leg that had been crippled though a car accident. We prayed violently and passionately, expected the leg to be restored immediately, but nothing seemingly happened. Ken hopped off into the darkness probably wondering what had just happened.

kisiiThe next day, packed and ready to leave, we went for a last walk though the town looking for any opportunity to pray for someone. Finally we stopped on a street corner to bless a local pastor who had been with us that morning. A crowd started to gather, so Paul shouted out “Does anyone need a miracle?” An old man came forward and received his healing. The crowd grew. Paul encouraged the old man to testify to the crowd what Jesus had just done for him. Beaming, the old man told the crowd that Jesus had just healed him and the people responded with cheers. Then suddenly the place just exploded! Much like the thunderstorm the day before, we found ourselves in the middle of a downpour of glory. People came from every direction to see the spectacle and get their miracle. We broke up and took different areas of the street corner, crowds pressing around each of us; we started laying hands on an enthusiastic crowd. Eyes improved, pain went, mobility was restored, demons left. For three hours we saw God move in a spectacular way. It was just like a scene out of the Book of Acts. This is what we had been expecting, yet we were still taken by surprise when it happened and were in total awe of what God was doing. The crowd pursued us as we made our way to the bus depot. In hindsight we should have stayed, but we were young players in the glory zone. We were just starting to learn how to live on this side of the cross.

Chapter Four - Back To Nairobi

kenyantrucksWith the amazing demonstration of power just witnessed in Kisii the guys were anticipating the same at the next town. But there is opposition, a thick darkness, that stands in the way and once again they find themselves pressing in for breakthrough.

One of the great joys of the mission was seeing a family member of the guide (Moses) be delivered from demonic oppression and set free to worship and be who he was saved to be. Once again the guys find that every turn holds something different as they experience listening to the Holy Spirit as the 'map' they need the most.
