Your Destiny

You are destined for great things! How do we know this? Because you are called to be a son of the Most High God, you are called to be a brother of Jesus (Heb 2:11) and co-heir with Him (Rom 8:17) in all the richness He enjoys. You are called to royalty. There are no fairy-tale princess stories that even come close to what the King of Kings has set you up for. Listen:

And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls "Abba!  Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God. (Gal 4:6-7 NET.)

Your destiny is one of a royal prince, equipped to expand your Father’s kingdom on the earth as it is established in heaven. Your destiny is to preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near!' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. (Mat 10:7-8 NET.)

Sounds too heavy? Maybe a little far-fetched? Does it sound like a fairy-tale dressed up in religious prose? For many it is all of these things and more. And guess what? They never enter into the life they were called to. You have a destiny but it’s not going to be forced on you. You have a high calling in God but neither God nor angels are going to force you to run that race. The invitation is out there. The promises in the Word of God, the prophetic words spoken over you, even the witness in the depths of your own heart all cry out for you to apprehend your destiny. But as a free agent you can choose to let it go, pass it all off as fanciful and unpractical, and live a ‘normal’ life. You can convince yourself that the mysteries of God are not worth the searching out, and the costs of engaging in a passionate pursuit are too great, the returns too uncertain.

For others, with eyes to see, recognize the priceless nature of a destiny hand crafted by God Himself. They calculate that they came into the world with nothing and have an opportunity to leave having gained everything. No earthly investment could ever match the return of a life sold out to Jesus.

Freedom

You Are Free!

For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. (Gal 5:1 NET.) You have been set free as John declares: So if the son sets you free, you will be really free. (Joh 8:36 NET.)

Someone with wealth and fame may seem like they are free, able to go wherever they choose, get whatever they desire. But if they are bound by sin, and all it’s symptoms, then they have not tasted of freedom at all. Someone may be locked away in a political prison in North Korea and seem completely bound. But if they have been transformed by the Spirit of God, they are already sitting in heavenly places in a freedom their captors know nothing of. And here’s the greatest paradox: some of the most liberated people on the planet remain locked in such prisons. Listen to these words of Paul speaking to the Corinthians: Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom. (2Co 3:17 NET.)

By the blood of Jesus you have been set free from sin – you did not have a choice but to sin before you were saved because to sin was in your very nature. But God has given you a new nature when you were born again and once you were saved from that old nature you became free to choose. (Rom 8:1-2; Heb 2:15)

You are free to follow your passions, the things God has put on your heart, the things your Heavenly Father is calling you to. You are free from bowing to the fear of men, fearing what they might think or do. You are free to cut your own path or follow in the footsteps of another.

You are free to follow advice or not. You have been given free access to the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. If you lack wisdom you only need ask for it. So you are free to listen to wisdom or not. God’s wisdom comes in many different ways and you are free to choose how to listen and how to interpret what you hear.

With freedom comes responsibility. There are consequences for every decision, for every action. It is true to say that a man reaps what he sows. So live as free people, not using your freedom as a pretext for evil, but as God's slaves. (1Pe 2:16 NET.) For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another. (Gal 5:13 NET.) To fully embrace the freedom you have, means to take full responsibility for the choices you make in that freedom. Maturity will come when you ‘own’ the outcome of your choices, and then you will discover the greatness of the wonderful freedom you have been given.

You Are Powerful!

You are a powerful. You may not have thought yourself a ‘powerful’ person before. You may have thought that powerful people are those with money, fame, or some high position in politics or business. But the fact of the matter is; there is only one source of true power, and if you are a Christian that power dwells within you. The power of God that created everything, raised Jesus from the dead, and hold all things together, dwells in you! Here is a little of what powerful people know and realize…

1. Powerful people know the source of their power:
- They know that they can do nothing with out God (Jn 5:19)
- They know they have the indwelling Holy Spirit (Eph 3:16)
- They know they can do all things through Christ Who strengthens them (Phil 4:13)

2. Powerful People know who they are and where they are going:
- They know their true identity in Christ, set free and righteous before a Holy God Who is their Father.
- They know they have a mandate from Heaven and it’s clearly comprehended by them.
- They see where they are going and know they have the resources of heaven to get them there.

3. Powerful People know they are not controlled by other people:
- They do not fear what people say or think about them.
- They are not intimidated by others or feel any false guilt.
- They are not manipulated and never blame another for their feelings or actions.
- They know they have full control over their feelings and responses and take responsibility for the way they are towards others.

4. Powerful People know they can not control other people:
- They do not use fear or intimidation to gain control over another.
- They do not use emotional manipulation to turn others to their way of thinking or acting.

5. Powerful People realize the power and significance of other:
- They hold others in high esteem, even though others may have different opinions and ways of doing things.
- They realize that honor is a ‘two-way street’.
- They are motivated to liberate others into a realization of power, even as they are powerful.
- They realize all people are made in the image of God and are the focal point of God’s affection and love. Therefore they deserve nothing less than the highest regard, even if their attitude is less than honorable; because the powerful persons nature of honor is not diminished by another’s dishonor.
