Matthew Dahlitz
Matthew Dahlitz is an Australian composer living in Logan City, Queensland, who’s passionate about God and music. Back in the early 1990s he studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, firstly in music technology, and later in composition. It was at the conservatorium that he studied orchestral compositional techniques with a particular interest in the romantic composers and film music. It was the beginning of sequencing and MIDI, all of which he had a fascination and has provided a basis for his compositional methods today.
Matthews focus is in using modern orchestral techniques and other contemporary sounds, to bring out what he believes are hidden mysteries within the scriptures. Using the techniques explained on his site, his desire is to compose music that not only sounds good but is actually coming from a deeper well than his own imagination. When he was studying film music, he was learning how to accompany something bigger than the music itself – the picture and dialogue. In a way he is doing the same sort of thing - his music being like a soundtrack to God’s Word.
From the site "Sacred Music":
For me there is something mysterious and intriguing about the ancient manuscripts that have been compiled into what we know as the Bible today. This God inspired logos is not just a history book, not just information about the nature of God, man and angels. These manuscripts, and especially the Torah, seem to be full of mathematical complexities and revelations far beyond the surface meaning of the text. with the invention of the computer, some of these mysteries are being explored, taking the study of gematria and code matrix to new levels of sophistication.
I am no Hebrew or Greek scholar – I know how to read a Hebrew/English transliteration, but that’s about it. But I have read enough of those who truly know Biblical Hebrew and Greek to realize there is a depth to be explored that more real and exciting than the Da Vinci Code!
My little adventure, in the great scheme of things, is to unlock some musical potential from the ancient Hebrew and Greek texts. And in so doing, find some inspiration and even revelation beyond the surface meaning of the scriptures.
The Scriptures have been talking to, quite obviously, the theologians. The scriptures have also been talking to the mathematicians, physicists, geologists, and astronomers, as well as musicians, poets and dreamers. As a composer the scriptures are talking to me about colour, texture, movement, emotion and how to articulate these things in a musical language we can relate to. If I can draw from the fundamentals of the text a musical expression that is a catalyst for deeper spiritual insight, then I have done my ‘job’ in unlocking something of value that had been hidden from you.
I dig into the original language of the scriptures to uncover gems of revelation. Unlike a theologian, a preacher or teacher of the Bible, I declare the riches of what I uncover through music. There are deeper levels of meaning in the scriptures below the surface text. These hidden messages from God are waiting to be uncovered by ones hungry and brave enough to go treasure hunting. With the fresh breath of the Holy Spirit you will be amazed at what is being discovered in the complex matrix of God’s Word. I’m part of a breed who are captivated by the thought of uncovering these mysteries – mysteries hidden since the beginning of time.
What I’m doing here is just one big adventure of discovery. It’s not an attempt to produce commercial music, to make a name, or to satisfy a mass audience. It’s to reveal the heart of my heavenly Father to those who have an ear to hear.

I am grateful for God Artists like Matt - who are thoughtfully creative in their approach to composition. His ideas for transliteration are groundbreaking. I find myself being ministered to by his songs and drawn into worship of the Lord. He has found a unique way of blending the ancient sounds and thoughts of the scriptures into a culturally relevant experience for every believer.

It has been said that there are only two kinds of people in the world - Poets and Accountants. Matthew Dahlitz is both. His ability to bring art and science together in his world has produced some amazing works. His entrepreneurial flare has been seen in his work in internet technology and design, his ability to create and play various styles of music, business ventures, architectural design and project management, Leadership of groups large and small, and even in his adventurous and intimate relationship with God. One of the many things I admire about Matthew is his willingness and ability to use his strengths to build others up. If you were able to stand face to face with Matthew he would lay his hands on you and begin to pray for you and prophesy life to you. What Matthew offers through his music is a ministry of prophetic encouragement that you can take anywhere anytime. Matthew is a real guy, doing real life with real people and offering real hope as he points people to Jesus through his music.

With his permission, I have recently added samples of Matthew Dahlitz's work to my God Vibration: Power of Sound seminars shared around the world. Matthew's musical sonification of scripture is powerful, anointed, and deeply moving. I highly recommend the creativity and science behind this beautiful expression of God's Holy Word.
