History Makers

Kris Vallotton

Every so often in the course of history there are individuals born who defy common reason and statistical explanation. These are the great ones, who break the tether of their generation’s expectations and rise to the high call that seems to echo from somewhere beyond the grave.

The prophets of old peered into the future and spoke of these violent ones who would force their way into the Kingdom, take hold of Heaven and pull it down to earth. These reigning saints refuse to have their exploits be a mere reflection of the past, but instead break the gravitational barriers of naysayers and doubters, and journey far beyond the boundaries of reason into places where no one has ever gone before. Ultimately they capture the prize of the upward call of God that lies in Christ Jesus. These are God’s history makers, the Lord’s chosen people, His mighty men, His holy nation.

Many of us can feel the vacuum of this vortex drawing our hearts into this divine destiny. We find our inner man longing, stirring, and burning for the great adventure. Live or die, we must press through the walls of mediocrity and find the Promised Land of our souls. We live with a passion to be numbered among those who have gained fame in the halls of Heaven and are feared among the prison guards of hell. If we are going to walk as God’s ruling royalty, we have to:

➢ Pray unceasingly

➢ Give sacrificially

➢ Dream unreasonably

➢ Serve wholeheartedly

➢ Love unashamedly

➢ Walk innocently

➢ Believe undoubtingly

➢ Live powerfully

These are the qualities of the Bride of Christ in all of her glory. She is called to be the most creative force on the face of the earth. Therefore, we must not allow ourselves to become known for our boxes, that is, famous for what we don’t do because of our “righteous" constrictions. Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin had certain moral values that restrained their behavior, but they were famous for what they did, not for what they didn’t do! It would be tragic if the most creative people on the face of the earth allowed themselves to be reduced to rent-a-cops guarding a box (The Ark of the Covenant) that God vacated 2,000 years ago.

The truth is that if we don’t take our rightful place in the earth, we will relegate sinners, void of the mind of Christ, barred from the wisdom of the ages, and wandering in utter darkness, to being the most brilliant minds of our time! If the brightest light in this world belonged to those locked in darkness, how great would the darkness be in our world? Something is fundamentally wrong with this picture, but this is our brain on religion. Religion is like kryptonite to Superman. Religion can conform the most righteous, reigning saints into mindless zombies, puppets repeating someone else’s convictions they don’t even understand themselves.
Attack Of The Clones
I am convinced that religion is the father of genetic cloning. Religion invented cloning long before the world ever thought of it. Religion has a way of sucking the most powerful people on the planet into a spiritual look-a-like contest, calling it discipleship. True discipleship is meant to empower people to be transformed into the image of their Creator, but religion redefines the terms, conforming people into replicas of their leaders. Religion takes God’s mighty men and makes them artifacts in a museum.

Religious people, like the Pharisees of old, have the hardest time reaching out to folks who think “outside of the box” and don’t behave inside their hopeless shackles. Part of the struggle comes from what they have done to the Savior of the world. They have sterilized the gospel. Jesus took water and turned it to wine, but 2,000 years later, today’s Pharisees have diluted it to grape juice. Religion has reduced the supernatural power of God to a history lesson about serving the dead body of a helpless Christ who, still nailed to the Cross, is incapable of rocking their sacred boat. They emphasize the drowning of baptism, arguing over how people should get wet and what should be said over them during their dipping. Religious people have lost touch with the fact that the bold print of baptism is not on the descent but on the ascension. The death of Christ paid for our sins, but it was His resurrection that gave life to our mortal bodies. Religion embraces death sadistically and moves the risen Christ out of the garden and back to the tomb. Religious people pray things like “God, kill me,” not realizing that even the One who came to give His life as a ransom for us all prayed, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup (of death) from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). Jesus did not want to die; He wanted to do His Father’s will. If religion had its way, it would rewrite Mary’s proclamation to read, “He is in the tomb just where we laid Him!” We have lost sight of the fact that the Cross was for the old man not the new man, and that the true Christian life is not about dying for Christ, but living in the life He purchased for us to establish His Kingdom on earth! The Church must shake off the shackles of religion and embrace our supernatural destiny.

Our Commission

The world is crying out in distress, and we must not miss this kairos moment, the opportunity of the ages. In the late sixties, the Beatles took America by storm. In a few short years, four boys from Liverpool altered the course of our nation’s history. Soon after, the world was swept into the wake of their anointing—all while they were singing “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” But it wasn’t long before the Fab Four started to experience a crisis in their own souls. They began to cry out in desperation, singing,

Help, I need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know I need someone, help

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way.
But now those days are gone, I’m not so self-assured
Now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors

Help me if you can, I’m feeling down
And I do appreciate you being ‘round
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won’t you please, please help me
Help me, help me, ooh.

But their cry for help fell on deaf ears in the sanctuary of hope, and soon they were calling Hare Krishna their “sweet lord.” The Church can’t afford to fall asleep in the harvest today as we have done so many times in the past. We are not supposed to reflect our culture; we are commissioned to transform it.

We are called to disciple all the nations of the world. Discipling nations means submerging them in God—not religion—and “teaching them all I commanded you” (Matthew 28:20). Teaching nations how to think is the transformational catalyst to changing cultures. But as long as Christians aren’t valued in society, they will have no influence in the world. (You only have as much influence in people’s lives as they have value for you. Anytime you try to have more influence than someone has value for you, you will manipulate them.) It is imperative that we become kings who understand the ways royal people influence authority. Otherwise, we will reduce ourselves to social begging, hoping that the BIG, powerful people feel compassion for us and help our cause. This poisonous poverty mindset reduces the Christian message to a cry for help instead of a call for leadership. We don’t need nations to change for our sake. We have a living, abiding, unshakable Kingdom that dwells within us and prospers under all circumstances. We need the nations to change for the sake of those still lost in darkness. They need the culture around them to create a safe environment for them until they get the Kingdom within them.

This cultural begging has relegated the Kingdom of God to a subculture. God never intended Christianity to be a subculture. Subcultures are those cultures that are subservient to a more powerful culture. The world’s commentary on the first century Church reflects the true influence we are meant to have in society. They proclaimed, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too” (Acts 17:6 NKJV). We are called to turn the world around and set it back on its feet again. We are to be counter-culture until the mindset of the nations begins to take on the attitude of the Kingdom. Christians are not subservient to the world because God has assigned us the highest level of authority that exists on this planet. When Christians lose their desire and courage to confront the evils of our day honorably, we begin to be influenced by the lying principalities that are also commissioned to disciple the nations, but with an antichrist agenda. These demonic forces work to dethrone the Prince of Peace, who is the rightful prince of the principles that make societies prosper, and instead enthrone the prince of darkness. Consequently, the enabling principles of a culture become demonically inspired instead of Kingdom in-Spirited. This dark prince works to establish evil thinking that leads to destructive behaviors. But when Jesus rules, He enables the principles of the King to transform the culture through the mind of Christ. In other words, people in a nation governed by the Kingdom begin to think like God!

However, it is important that we learn how to carry His power and authority. If we believers become combative instead of honorably confronting, we will reduce our influence to the small pond of the church and render ourselves powerless in the ocean of humanity. We are to carry God’s authority into the lives of people and nations through invitation, not through intrusion or invasion. Although we are called to be combative to the powers of darkness, we are to be honorably confronting to people, demonstrating the benefits and rewards of a superior Kingdom.

You are Special

The Uniqueness of You...

Matthew Dahlitz

The uniqueness of you; There is no one like you… ever. You have a special place on the earth, in heaven, and in God’s heart. You are very special. God, in His boundless creativity, does not have to repeat Himself because he has run out of ideas or resources. He didn’t get to the 3 billionth person and get stuck creating someone different from all who were created before. Neither does He find Himself wondering what He’s going to do with that 3 billionth child of His, what place are they going to have in the world, in the Body of Christ, in His heart. No. He knows exactly how special you are in every way, and what a special place you have in His heart, long before you were conceived in your mothers womb.

You are as special as any child of God, past, present, or future:  Galatians 2:6 says that God shows no favouritism between people – you are as special to God as the apostle Paul, or any saint from the past or present you could name.

You are unique in your representation of the nature of God – Your unique make-up and placement in time and space is to reveal certain aspects of the nature of God that no one else can like you. When you minister the nature of God to others you do so in a unique way – you have something special to impart that no one else can because of the uniqueness of who you are and how the indwelling Holy Spirit moves through you.

You are physically unique

Psalm 139:14 says that you are “fearfully and wonderfully” made. Your physical attributes reflect the glory of the Lord and each of us are unique in that reflection. In your DNA, the cellular instructions that dictate your physical form, God has stamped you as unique:

(in your DNA) How much spelling difference is there? Well, there is almost complete identity between any two human beings. Look at the neighbor to your left and to your right. You’re 99.9% identical. That should make you feel very common, part of a common species. But of course, in a genome of three billion letters, even a tenth of a percent difference translates into three million separate spelling differences. And so I invite you again to look to the left and look to the right and notice how unique you are. There is no one in this audience who has the same DNA sequence as anyone else.

And indeed, your DNA sequence is unique amongst all DNA sequences of any human that has ever lived and will live for quite some time to come. Unless you have an identical twin, in which case you do have someone who has the same DNA sequence. But apart from that, your DNA sequence is yours and yours alone.[1]

You may not like all the attributes of your physical body, but unless you are an identical twin, those attributes are uniquely yours. And you are just as different on the inside as you are on the outside compared to anyone else on the planet.

Emotionally and Cognitively Unique

You are emotionally and cognitively unique, partly because of your physical make-up and partly because of your life experience and partly because of the interplay between your spirit/soul/and body.

Let’s consider your emotions. There is a fundamental difference between the male and female brain and emotional responses. The frontal lobe (the decision-making and problem-solving area) and the limbic cortex (the emotional brain) is proportionally larger in women. In men the proportionately larger areas are in the sensory and spatial perception parts of the brain. Studies have found that men respond to negative stimuli in a way that would provoke them to take action, whereas women respond more on an emotional plane. Women are more likely to remember emotional experiences than men simply because they are wired to recall emotions more keenly than men. Women also seem to have a greater ability to recall autobiographical information, albeit indexed by the emotional experience of those events.

This is all very ‘broadly speaking’, but it does show that physical differences in the brain dictate different emotional responses. Now down at an individual level your brain is unique. Your neural connections (Neural Networks) that ‘light-up’ across your cortex will be different from the person next to you. You may see the same event, or hear the same music, but what is going on in both your brains will be different. Major pathways, say from the visual cortex would be similar, but what happens in the memory and emotional parts of your brains will be different.

These emotional response differences are not only attributed to the fact that your brain is different from your neighbours:  Your unique responses are also shaped by your past experiences. If you saw a horror movie as a child that had a particular waltz as musical backing, you may not, as an adult, hear that waltz and think it romantic. However, if your experience was that this waltz was played at a high-school dance, and it was a romantic experience for you, then hearing that same piece of music later in life would probably evoke warmer feelings, even if you had forgotten about the details of your first experience with that music.

Your emotional responses are also shaped by the interplay between your spirit/soul/and body. You may have a particular spiritual sensitivity to a situation, and your spirit could dictate your emotional response and the outward manifestation in your body. For example you may be sensitive to the negative spiritual atmosphere of a place, even though there is no physical cues, and a feeling of sadness or pain or grief could come over you. It’s not your brain responding to external stimuli, but rather your spirit now dictating the emotional response to your brain.

Similar things can be said about your cognitive ability. Your brain is different, your experience is different, and the effects of your spirit is different from anyone else. Even the way we gather external information thought our eyes, ears, skin, etc, is unique, albeit subtle, because of the different genetic make up of those organs. Some people can ‘see’ sounds and ‘hear’ colours in their minds that suggest a difference in cognitive ability or interplay between spirit/soul/and body.

So these differences in emotion and cognition make you to be a unique person with unique perception and insight to offer others who may see and feel the world around them very differently.

Unique in Time, Space, and Experience

The time and place you were born into, the places you have grown up in, all mark you as unique. The experiences you have had may be common to others, but because they were experienced by the unique creation that you are, in the unique time that you live, then they are unique. You carry all that uniqueness in the way you respond to things, interpret events, understand others, relate to God and His creation. You have been placed in time and space for a purpose. Not only to experience and grow, but to impart and effect change, to love and be loved.

Although a very dramatic example, Esther was the key to the Jews escaping a holocaust, having the ear of the King at that time. In Esther 4:14 Mordecai sends a message to Esther saying “…It may very well be that you have achieved royal status for such a time as this!” Likewise, you have achieved royal status for a time like this. It may not be apparent to you yet, just what your special purpose is, but it will become clear as you seek Him with all your heart. You have the ear of the King!

Unique in Spirit

Just as your physical body is unique in all of creation, so is your spirit man. Bodies come and go. We die and shed this physical body and receive an incorruptible one. But the spirit man is not changed; it is the ‘true’ you. And you, as a spirit, are a unique child of your Heavenly Father.

A big part of what makes you so special, yet not unique among your brothers and sisters, is what God has given you as an inheritance. For example, you are blessed with every spiritual blessing:

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.
(Eph 1:3 NET.)

As Paul says in Romans 8:32, God did not spare his own son for us, so how will he not also freely give us all things? The value of all other things, seen and unseen, pale in significance against the worth of Jesus. And as sons He has given us all things:

So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
(1Co 3:21-23 NET)

One final word about how special you are; God is the most important being in the universe – so if you are so important to him, if He made the ultimate sacrifice for you and has given you all things, then you are very important. Wouldn’t you say?

And for those who are concerned that being so special will cause there to be pride and arrogance, consider on what basis pride would stand? You have done nothing to deserve, to earn, to work toward, such an outlandish display of favour from God. In fact your sin nature was working hard to build a case against you, so you would be fully deserving of death, fully deserving to be cast away from God’s presence. And what do we get for such a nature? We are purchased with the highest price ever, and then given everything. Amazing.

Our Consolation During Times of Darkness

Paul Keith Davis

Historically times of spiritual darkness in the world also mark a time of incredible opportunity to develop intimate relationship with the Lord as a friend.  Those who embrace this opportunity will be known as “disciples” (instructed ones) and partakers of His divine nature. It is through His Holy character that divine power is granted to us that provides everything we need “pertaining to life and Godliness.”

The Scripture points out we have received His precious and magnificent promises by which we become partakers of His divine nature having escaped the corruption of this world and its lusts -

Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and Godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. -2 Peter 1:3-4

A friend is known as a close companion or comrade; those having a reciprocal relationship or mutual exchange one with another. According to Exodus 33:11, the Lord spoke to Moses face-to-face as a friend speaks to a friend!
The Lord’s friends can also be trusted. We must come to a place of trustworthy stewardship of His revelation and His glory. The apostle Paul admonishes us in I Corinthians 4:1-2 to not only become carriers of the mysteries and power of God, but to also betrustworthy stewards.

The friends of the bride-groom assist in the planning and arranging of the soon coming marriage. The Lord must be able to trust His friends with His power and this divine message that is going to be delivered to His people for this purpose. Those who are mature and virtuous will perceive this to be a season of visitation and camaraderie with the Lord. Even with storms raging all around us we can say, “all is well
with my soul… as long as Jesus is my friend.” These will not care anything about the famine, the pestilence, and the storms as long as they have Jesus for their friend.

Restoration and Recovery

The friends of Christ will initiate a season of spiritual and natural restoration.

Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have the hope; this very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you. For I will bend Judah as My bow, I will fill the bow with Ephraim. And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece; and I will make you like a warrior’s sword. -Zechariah 9:12 13

Our enemy, whose desire is to steal, kill and destroy, has successfully plundered the inheritance of God’s people throughout the centuries. Nevertheless, divine justice requires recompense. This includes not only our spiritual heritage but also natural resources rightfully belonging to God’s people. This will be a major source of resolution for the Church during economic crisis.

Past relationships that the devil has destroyed will also begin to be reconciled. Relationships destroyed by rumors, gossip, and propaganda will supernaturally be mended by the Lord if we petition heaven through prayer and supplication. This is something important to the Lord that we must contend for.

The restorer of the breach will recondition us by the Spirit of Truth and a new wall of protection will be constructed to surround the Bride of Christ. The Lord is the restorer of the breach and the repairer of the broken walls…He is the restorer of former streets and dwellings and the One who un-stops old wells. According to Isaiah 58:12:

And those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will raise up the age old foundations; and you will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

The Lord’s ultimate desire for His people is to restore and renew the breach between Heaven and earth and impart to them a spirit of valor and courage; then we will carry the battle to the enemy gates and plunder his camp by aiding and directing those who once failed to find their rightful place in the body of Christ. We will begin to find those of our brethren living in fear and seclusion and rejuvenate them into a new walk with Christ.

Overcoming Fear

Many people are experiencing fear on multiple levels. Fear of failure imprisons countless Christians by inhibiting them from exercising their spiritual gifts and walking in obedience to the Holy Spirit. Others are overcome with feelings of dread concerning their marriage and/or the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of their children. Still others are struggling with insecurity concerning their financial well-being and future. All of these are legitimate concerns that we can and must transfer to the Lord for His care and oversight. 1 Peter 5:6-7 declares:

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Several years ago I wrote an article with Bob Jones derived from an experience he had with the Lord showing our anointing to deal with the “spirit of fear.” The revelation portrayed and typified our spiritual adversaries by “Goliah” and like David, the young champion of Israel, God’s people were being anointed to deal with the relevant issues of our generation with hearts of valor.

Clearly, spiritual giants are once again raising their ugly heads in a desperate attempt to keep God’s people from our promises. Even so, impartation of grace and favor will see us through with the emergence of some of the greatest champions the Church has ever seen.

In this experience Bob was shown that one of the “Goliaths” of the last day generation is the spirit of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 promises:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear is defined as, an emotion characterized by alarm, anxiety, and tension, often caused by an expectation of danger or pain; it is a dread birthed through anxiety and tension, whether real or imagined, producing timidity and fearfulness.

The “spirit of fear” is a form of bondage and spiritual slavery. It is a ruthless taskmaster attempting to steal the seeds of destiny and purposes being awakened within the hearts of God’s people. The Lord knew us before the foundation of the world. Those who belong to Him were in Him before creation was fashioned. He foreknew all who would desperately search for Him and to those He deposited divine seeds of Kingdom design and destiny. Those seeds are now being awakened and activated within many and it is our adversaries determined desire to prohibit that from coming into full fruition. We are on the threshold of another “Great Awakening.”

The Debilitating Fruit of Fear

In these revelations, we were shown that there are many debilitating spirits that feed off of fear that will circumvent our calling and destiny. Awareness of this plot is mandatory so that we can embrace God’s provision to overcome.

The first revealed fruit of fear is “insanity and mental instability.” The desire of the adversary is to create such fear in the hearts of people that he would actually cause impairment in our thinking that opens the door to various forms of delusion, depression and anxiety.

Insanity is birthed from a root of fear. A lack of sound judgment provides options that we would ordinarily shun or not even consider, such as drugs and alcohol.
This is just one expression of “spiritual insanity.” There can be many including unhealthy relationships, financial irresponsibility or the excessive pursuit of entertainment or the squandering of precious time that we need to redeem for His Kingdom.

The second spirit accompanying the “spirit of fear” was “fear of sickness and infirmity.” It is the plan of our adversary to create such insecurity and anxiety involving reports of sickness and disease that we would not pursue our divine destiny and Heavenly purpose with determination and faith. This could certainly be the case with the numerous outbreaks of the bird flu, swine flu and other epidemics. The Church will come to know more ardently that by His strips we are healed and greater is He within us than he that is in the world.

The final adversary revealed in the experience birthed out of the “spirit of fear” was “fear of financial failure.” Clearly, our nation is experiencing notable financial difficulties. Economic analyst and experts have openly acknowledged that this downfall is further fueled by public fear and misconceptions.

That instability has also been facilitated by reports of corporate abuse and unscrupulous business leaders and poor political decisions. We believe it is still the Lord’s intent to use our nation to help facilitate the birthing of divine purposes and stand in strong support of Israel. Clearly, there are issues of repentance and a return to righteousness that must be realized within the Church which will release times of refreshing from His Presence. (Acts 3.19)

The Enemy’s Plans

Unresolved Afear” will give place to one or all three companions that travel with it. These spirits attempt to defile the righteous and hinder the Church from entering her place of anointing and fruitfulness.

The first step in overcoming the designs of the enemy is to bring them out darkness and obscurity into light. The enemy hates for his plans to be exposed. This was explicitly demonstrated in 2 Kings 6:11-12. By obtaining a clear comprehension of his schemes we are more amply able to fortify ourselves through the Word of Truth and appropriate it through prayer and proclamation.

When Israel heard Goliath they trembled and when they saw him they fled. This analogy is given to portray our adversaries plan and purpose. It is the grace of God to allow us to understand these things so that we can take our position through faith and prayer to overcome.

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (Rom 8:15 17)

Champions in the Order of David

There will be a company of people who arise from the wilderness having conquered the “lion” and the “bear” with confidence in God’s anointing and willingness to overcome His enemies. The future “David’s” will be both worshipers and warriors who have discovered the Lords Voice in the wilderness.

The spirit of “fear” functions as captain of Satan’s host. Like David, we are insufficient in our own strength to overtake this adversary. However, we do not come in our own name nor in our strength but in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom he has taunted. (1 Samuel 17.45)

The Smooth Stone of Apostolic Authority

When we function in God’s government through genuine apostolic authority we will then destroy this antagonist and plunder the enemy’s camp. David was able to bravely stand before “Goliath” because he knew his promise and to Whom he belonged.

Likewise, he recognized the seed of corruption and ungodliness from which Goliath came. The clear distinctions between the two are going to become apparent in the coming season. No longer will the line be blurred separating those who belong to the Lord Jesus and those who have yielded to ungodliness and corruption.

To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days. And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS; — Luke 1:74 76
There is presently a challenge coming to the forefront to confront the intimidations and trepidations many are experiencing concerning their ministries, health, finances and families.

Although the brothers of David witnessed the anointing oil poured upon him by the prophet Samuel, yet they were the very ones who chastised David for his willingness to confront the champion of the enemy army. Nonetheless, that did not deter him from fulfilling his destiny and demonstrating the Lords victory.

We cannot allow the chastisement from within our own camp to hinder us from this commission and purpose. The demonstration of the Lords mantle as Warrior and Captain of the Heavenly Host, will overcome “Goliath” and release the armies of God to plunder the camp of the enemy. Many of our brethren are held captive by the forces of the adversary. It is the Lords desire and intent to free them. Hebrews 12:28 29 declares:

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

Presently, we are being given a choice— Faith or Fear. Faith works through love but anger and disillusionment is the offspring of fear.
